A Home Built on the Past
Classical Heritage, Contemporary Living - 2025
Located at the foot of Gellért Hill, this early 20th-century bourgeois apartment was redesigned to meet the needs of a modern family while preserving its original architectural character. The renovation began with significant structural challenges, followed by a complete reorganisation of the floor plan to create generous, functional living spaces and three separate bedrooms.
The interior concept is built around the idea of value preservation: original windows, classical proportions and period references such as decorative mouldings, ceiling rosettes and herringbone parquet were carefully integrated into a contemporary layout. Family heirlooms, antique and vintage pieces were combined with modern furniture and custom-built elements, resulting in an eclectic yet cohesive atmosphere.
The project reflects a balance between respect for architectural heritage and a practical, lived-in approach to contemporary interior design, creating a personal, timeless family home.
